Deep Breathing is a way of breathing that allows you to use the full capacity of your lungs, which is strangely something we don’t do naturally as adults.

Handy tips:

  • When you breathe in fill up your belly as far as you can and then fill up your chest, when you breathe out pull your belly in at the end of the breath. This will feel counter intuitive at first, but will feel a lot more natural the more you practice.
  • Why not try lying down the first time you do this? It may make it easier for you to see your belly expanding and contracting.
  • Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth is recommended, but please do whatever feels most comfortable / effective for you.
